The Brief.

We were based at Parkside for our CRaM lessons today. We did this because it was much closer to Shakin Moo's which is where we went to get our brief. When we arrived at Shakin Moo's we were introduced to the owner Chris Lane who gave us the brief. We have a choice to either promote his hot shakes or the chocolate fudge brownie shake. He explained how his hot shakes are perfect for the winter weather and how you would've thought a milkshake business wouldn't work at all at this time of year, but it does as he makes hot shakes. The chocolate fudge brownie shake, according to Mr lane could be Shakin Moo's best shake, possibly including the Oreo one. Its appearance doesn't do it much justice, it doesn't have anything fancy on it and has a plain simple plastic cover unlike all the other products, however it has an amazing taste and is so much better than it looks to be.

The shops target market is mainly students and children, those are the type of people who come in most regularly as the shop has an attraction which would appeal to people of that age range. There has been a lot of competition between Shakin Moo's and the other new milkshake place in Cambridge Shakeaway. Chris believes that Shakin Moos has more individuality to it and holds so much more identity, much effort was put into it and it has more feelings and meanings to it unlike shakeaway whose just for money. As Chris said Shakin Moo's definitely has a bigger character to it.
Shakin Moo's location is not the best of locations. Burleigh street has other shops on it like charity shops, cafes, chip shops, hairdressers and blockbuster. A phone box was removed from the street due to homeless people ringing dealers off it.
Shakin Moo's also offer many promotions such as the shake and cake promotion to get 10% off, free toppings, Facebook competition, hot shakes and now the special valentines promotion.
Chris would like his customers to think of Shakin Moos as homely place and somewhere to go when its cold with your mates, a place to hangout. It has nice furniture and good music, its also warm and comfortable.
This is basically the brief which was given to us by Chris. In our group we decided to go for the chocolate fudge brownie promotion. We think that its appearance doesn't do it much justice and if people knew how amazing it was it would be bought much more often.
After lunch we started working on the brief and summarizing everything Chris had said to us, and beginning to plan what we were going to be doing next week. We we're put into our groups, and started to plan what we we're going to do for Shakin Moo. We didn't come up with much as we didn't have much time but we know which promotion we're doing ( Chocolate Fudge Brownie) and we also came up with a group name 'Jarabs'
